Welcome to Santa Margarita Pop Warner for our 2012 season!

SMPW is one of the largest and most successful Pop Warner associations in the country and we looking forward to another fantastic season. Welcome to all of you who are new to our organization and a special thanks to those who are returning.

Please read through this carefully before you click the link at the bottom of the page to move to our online registration system.

To participate in SM Pop Warner you should live within our association boundaries of Rancho Santa Margarita, Ladera Ranch, San Juan Capistrano, Irvine, Trabuco Canyon, Dove Canyon, Coto De Caza, Laguna Niguel and areas surrounding these. The map of our boundaries can be found by clicking on the appropriate link under the registration tab. If you live within the free draw zone on the map you are very welcome to play in SM Pop Warner. If you live outside our boundaries you will need to obtain a geographic waiver from your home association. Waiver forms can be found on our website. SM Pop Warner is open to anyone age 5 to 15 (league age is your age on August 1, 2012).  Placement in a particular division is based on a combination of age and weight:

 

  • Flag: Ages 5-6, no weight restriction
  • Tiny Mite: Ages 5-7, 35-75 pounds
  • Junior Mitey Mite & Mitey Mite: Ages 7-9, 45-90 pounds
  • Junior Pee Wee: Ages 8-9-10, 60 to 105 pounds; age 11, 60 to 85 pounds
  • Pee Wee: Ages 9-10-11, 75-120 pounds, age 12, 75 to 100 pounds
  • Junior Midget: Ages 10-11-12, 85-135 pounds, age 13, 85 to 115 pounds
  • Midget: Ages 11-12-13-14, 105 to 160 pounds, age 15, 105 to 140 pounds

Cost for tackle football is $325 which is the lowest cost for playing tackle football in Orange County.   The price of tackle football goes up to $425 after our  in-person registration session on February 25th. Flag football is $110 and cheer registration is $50 (regardless of when you sign up). Sign up early to save big if you are a tackle football player, and also to ensure you are placed on a team.  We will fill up some levels quickly and we are on a first come first serve basis.

If you are interested in having your son or daughter participate in our Challenger program, it is free of charge. Do not go through the online registration process for the Challenger program. Follow the link under registration for challenger and we will manually sign you up.

When you sign up for tackle football, please put your child in the lowest possible playing level based on age/weight. If you feel your son is able to lose weight to get to a lower level, you will need to input the maximum weight for that level of play during the registration process.

Registration is based on first come, first served. Register early to ensure a spot on a team.

You must read the General Information and FAQ sections of the website. These can be found under the football or cheer tabs. We have a “no refund” policy and this information will allow you to avoid misunderstandings.

After signing up you will be instructed to mail in supporting documentation.  This will not be necessary as we will collect all documents from those who haven't previously submitted them at our league sponsored physicals that are scheduled for June 3rd.

Teams will be formed in the late April timeframe and you will hear from your coach most likely in early May. On June 3rd we will have our league sponsored physicals and August 1st we are back in action. Check the league website calendar for specific dates.
